I want to tell you more about why I want to run for County Clerk. 
 

I want to run for County Clerk to bring strong leadership, accountability, and dedication to serving our community. This office plays a vital role in protecting the integrity of our elections, maintaining accurate public records, and ensuring County services run efficiently. I believe the Cler's office should operate with transparency, professionalism, and a commitment to every resident it serves. I am ready to work hard, lead with integrity and ensure this office continues to serve our County with trust and excellence. 
 

Choosing the best person for the job is not always an easy decision. And basically, when you think about it, what an election is, it is somewhat of a job interview. Do you hire from within? Do you look for someone from the outside, someone to bring in fresh ideas, and a new perspective? The last couple of County Clerks have come from current staff and I don’t think that has worked out very well. Isn’t that the definition of insanity? Doing something over and over again, and expecting different results? I believe it is time for a fresh start.

Does electing a new Clerk mean that they will not be capable and competent just because they do not know of every detail of the day-to-day operation? Nope. Great leaders empower teams by setting vision and fostering trust, not by controlling every detail.  Ronald Reagan once said - “Surround yourself with the best people you can find, delegate authority, and don't interfere as long as the policy you've decided on is being carried out."

Think back to any new job that you have started. Did you know every detail of every task that job entailed before you started? No, and I may not either. But I am capable, and I am competent and I will work my tail end off for each and every citizen of Alamosa County starting on day one. As I was thinking about other jobs that I have had or other places I have worked or other situations, I suddenly realized how the very most important job in the whole world has inspired me.

President Trump was never in politics before he was elected President. He was not a Congressman before he was President. He was not a Senator or even a Vice-President before he chose to run for President. Now, I know that being a County Clerk is a very very far cry from being the President of the United States. But, my point is, hard work, determination, loyalty, and accountability are all important attributes and skills needed no matter what the job is.
 

So, when you fill out that ballot, you should vote for the person that you would as if you were conducting a job interview. You would want to hire the hardest working and most capable person to carry out the duties of that office and I am that candidate for you.
